Abstract: Background Professional drivers’ work under conditions predisposes them for development of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) and cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, the effect of SDB on CVD risk among professional drivers has never been investigated. Abstract:This study assessed oxidatively damaged DNA and antioxidant enzyme activity in workers occupational exposure to metal oxides nanomaterials. Exposure to TiO2, SiO2, and ITO resulted in significant lower antioxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase) and higher oxidative biomarkers 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-oxodG) than comparison workers. A total of 113 PM2.5 samples with 22 PAHs collected from 2014 to 2015 were analyzed, and Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF) and diagnostic ratios of PAHs were applied to quantify potential PAH sources. Abstract: Phthalates are lipophilic and tend to accumulate in adipose tissue, an important regulator of energy balance and glucose homeostasis. The study aimed to determine whether cellular phthalate accumulation influenced fat cell energy metabolism. Following a 3-day treatment with adipogenesis-inducing medium and a 2-day treatment with adipogenesis-maintaining medium, 3T3-L1 cells differentiated into adipocytes in the presence of a phthalate at a clinically relevant concentration (30-300 muM) for another 6 days. Abstract: This study was conducted in a real-scale iron ore sinter plant for reducing emissions of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) from the iron ore sintering process via the adjustment of its sinter raw mix. Based on operating condition of the selected plant, four experimental campaigns of Cref (currently used raw mix, served as the reference), CH (modified from Cref, with a 15% increase in hematite but 15% decrease in limonite), CH,EP (modified from CH, without electrostatic precipitator (EP) and blast furnace (BF) flue dusts), and CH,EP,W (modified from CH,EP, with a 0.5 wt% increase in water content) were chosen.
